Until God's Children apprehend the simple nudging of the Holy Spirit urging us to go deeper to the next level; Real Success or Purposeful living would continually be "quantified or qualified" with having a fat bank Account and a stable marriage! Ironically however, God's Algebra is often the opposite. And we'd continue to spin around the orbit of spiritual stagnation until we step out in Faith.
When the creeds and foundational Christian ethics we've been taught from our younger days clash with our individual -non-selfish -pursuits; there's sure to be a consequential outcome. Such is the time, we'd question our faith about those things we believed were true in contrast to Biblical facts which would make no sense at all. But when its God at work, recalibrating our "mundane settings", we needn't worry. Its all good.
However,It is possible to be successful and live a fruitful and accomplished Christian lifestyle. Conversely, it's also possible to appear to be a successful Christian, maintain a cavalier-style approach to sin, whilst thinking we're living a life pleasing unto God but in actual fact: such a life is like a life on a Wager!
Michael Steel (Randy Travis) is a hot commodity in Hollywood. He's been nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award and his anticipations were high. But everything that could go wrong went haywire days before the day of his crowning, and his faith gets tested to the limit! Including coping with a marriage destined for the rocks, and the unannounced loss of a stalwart.
Succinctly, Michael was given the option to choose between making an eternal impact from God's standpoint of successful living as opposed to his Hollywood driven ambition (which in no way is out of God's will, but Divine Timing is crucial)! That is, we needn't be theoretically sound or biblical perfect to have a divine calling!
The essence of this cleverly scripted movie in my own opinion is to highlight the imaginative exposition of Jesus Christ's sermon on the Mount. This portion of Scripture (st. Matthews chapters 5-7) is still a tug of war with many Christians today,in terms of its true meanings; and this movie does a good work at dispelling and exposing some of the preconceived ideologies we nurse explicitly. Besides this, is the efficacy of the accuser of the brethren which we need to be sensitive about.
I'll advise that everyone got themselves a copy for the holidays if you haven't already seen it, but if we have; then simply re-examine our lives.
:U.K GET IT HERE.
