It might baffle one that the star character in some biblical stories oftentimes are the rather unknown. The Book of Ruth features this vividly and you'd ask why! It may be because of Ruth's direct linkage to the coming Messiah. However, watching the movie would reveal a sense of spiritual sensitivity in the life of Naomi too - in my own opinion she's my star character in the book.
Even the most sardonic of agnostics can do a retelling of this endearing story, but by viewing it, another perspective comes to light that the carnal mind is unable to see.
Many self-righteous believers would have judged Naomi and her family's emigrating away from Israel when they did, which eventually turned sour and eventually catastrophic.
Forgetting however, that without Naomi's family embarking upon their "soulish-journey of convenience"(a lesson for those taking to flight during the recession in search for green pastures outside of God's perfect will) into temporal relief in Moab away from Israel; there'd have been no Ruth!
Yet Ruth was crucial to God's programme hence the importunity to fetch this dainty DNA into the frame of things, though there's a legalistic curse in place!
The movie obviously isn't big budget and needn't be: Grace,Love, and Devotion is one priceless journey of Faith that no amount of affluence, or World Bank mints would ever be able to purchase! This qualifies the movie as a good tool to share with others this holiday season, particularly as we approach a new year of making new resolutions when decisions would be made to either stand or take to flight!
